Every heroine has a class. The class sets her role, her base Cost and her default skill. Build a line that fits the road in front of you.
The nine classes
| Class | Default skill | Base Cost |
|---|---|---|
Herald | Cost Burst: gain Cost, at once or over time | 9 |
Bulwark | Fortify: DEF up, and block +1 | 17 |
Skirmisher | Rapid: attack speed up | 7 |
Outrider | Stat Surge: ATK or DEF up for a time | 12 |
Mender | Heal Burst: heals every ally in range | 14 |
Hexer | Control: a stronger slow, or a halt | 10 |
Marksman | Rapid: attack speed up | 9 |
Arcanist | Stat Surge: ATK or DEF up for a time | 19 |
Cantor | Sings: heals the ally in range with the lowest HP, or damages one enemy at a time | 13 |
Base Cost is for a 3-star. Cost generation, the Herald line, is never locked behind the summon. Every class has a free 3-star story unit, so no map is unbeatable for lack of a class.
- Blocking. Melee units on the road block enemies. Ranged units stand on ledges and cannot block.
- Healing. A Mender or a Cantor heals the ally in range with the lowest HP percent, for as much as her own ATK. She never heals herself.
- Flyers. Flying enemies cannot be blocked. Marksmen, Hexers and Cantors can hit them.

Rarity
Heroines come in 1 to 5 stars. Rarity changes the level cap, the Cost and what a heroine can learn.
| Rarity | Cost vs 3-star | Level cap | Skill |
|---|---|---|---|
| ★ | -2 | 30, promoted 40 | None |
| ★★ | -1 | 40, promoted 50 | Class default |
| ★★★ | 0 | 50, promoted 60 | Class default |
| ★★★★ | +1 | 50, promoted 70, ascended 80 | Her own |
| ★★★★★ | +3 | 50, then promoted 80, ascended 99 | Her own, upgraded |
- Promotion gives a new class name and a higher level cap. Promoting a 5-star makes her a 6-star.
- Ascension needs Promotion and gives a passive. It starts at 4-star. 3-stars do not ascend.
- Copies. Each duplicate takes 1 off a unit's Cost, down to -3.
- Skills are used by hand, or set to auto on the TEAM screen. Skill levels 1 to 5 shorten the cooldown. Level 5 is 80 percent of the base.

Your team
The number of units you can bring grows with your rank: 8, plus half your rank, up to 15. Each map also limits how many units can be on the field at once.
